Do you think the American Woodcock is a strange bird? It doesn’t even live in the woods! Or because of its unusually short legs, its unusually chubby body, or its unusually long beak, let’s not even get into its sexual behaviors. Yes, it is a strange bird. But like many of us, it does not like cold weather (the woodcocks went south). Maybe that is why Jordyn is available to come and speak to us in February.
Jordyn is the Wildlife Outreach Technician for the DNR. Raised in a small northernMichigan town “where the main street is lined with tractors and there is only one flashing traffic light,” she is now running the PureMichigan Hunt program and is the communications contact for Southwest Michigan. In February that has her out doing school programs and speaking to Audubon groups about strange birds.
Join us, this bird will warm your hearts, on Monday, February 22, at People’s Church, 1758 North 10th Street, Kalamazoo. The program starts at 7:30 PM and is preceded by a social time with light refreshments at 7 PM. Guests and the general public are encouraged to attend. Handicap parking and access is at either the front or rear of the building. Please remember to bring your own coffee cup.
