Winter at Ronald H. Warner Sanctuary – by Laura Christensen

Winter Bird Walks at Warner Sanctuary

Please join us for a winter bird walk at Michigan Audubon’s Ronald H. Warner Sanctuary in Hastings. Led by sanctuary steward Laura Christensen, these winter walks will take participants through the mixed pine and hardwood forests, wetland edges and beautiful lake that is the centerpiece of this 108-acre sanctuary. Everyone can help spot and count birds during the walk to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count. Learn more about the Great Backyard Bird Count at http://gbbc.birdcount.org/. No experience identifying birds is necessary. Come out to learn and enjoy the peace found in the woods in winter. Dress for the weather: snow boots, hats, gloves, scarves (and binoculars, too!).

Two walks will take place this weekend:

Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 4pm

Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 10am

Location: GPS coordinates: 42.620669, -85.396601. Ronald H. Warner Sanctuary is on the east side of Erway Rd., Hastings. The sanctuary entrance is south of Hart Rd. and north of the Boys and Girls Club Camp. Please park on Erway Road as the parking area is difficult to access in winter.
