Celebrate Sandhill Crane migration season with a festival of Cranes, Colors, & Cabernet! Saturday, October 21, visit Haehnle Sanctuary for crane viewing and events from Noon until dusk (see detailed schedule below). Just down the road from Haehnle Sanctuary, Sandhill Crane Vineyards will be celebrating as well. Stop by for fine wines and an excellent fall menu from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 

CC&C Festival 2017

October 10/21/17 – 12 p.m. to dark

Festival will have two walking tours, one natural history of the Greater Sandhill Crane talk, a car tour to look for sandhill cranes feeding in the fields, and crane viewing at the observation hill.

Don’t forget to visit Sandhill Crane Vineyards, celebrating with fine wines and food from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.!

Haehnle Event Schedule:

12:00 p.m. Walking tour; this tour will be led by a Haehnle naturalist and will be 1 to 1 ½ hours in duration.

2:00 p.m. Walking tour; this tour will be led by a Haehnle naturalist and will be 1 to 1 ½ hours in duration.

4:00 p.m. Lecture on the natural history of the Sandhill Crane by a Haehnle naturalist.

4:30 p.m. Car tour; to view cranes in surrounding fields led by sanctuary manager Lathe Claflin. Tour will be 1 to 1 ½ hours then back to observation hill to watch cranes returning to roost at the sanctuary.

4:30 p.m. to dark Wildlife and crane viewing at observation hill with Haehnle naturalists.
