Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference? Does Michigan Audubon’s mission — connecting birds and people for the benefit of both through conservation, education, and research efforts in the state of Michigan — match your desires?

If so, please consider lending your time and talents to our cause.

Michigan Audubon is seeking leaders for its volunteer board of directors. Board members are stewards of the organization and play a key role in overseeing that the Society’s goals are met. Board members are required to attend quarterly board meetings. For 2024, one session will be face-to-face, and the remainder will be virtual meetings. Board members are encouraged to participate in events and functions produced by Michigan Audubon and represent MA at chapter events and meetings. Board members dedicate 10–20 hours per month to the organization.

If you are an individual who has the following characteristics, then this leadership role may be for you.

If you:

  • Are passionate about birds, conservation, and building a community of supporters,
  • Want to see future generations develop respect for birds and the environment,
  • Have experience with leadership (either volunteer or in a work role),
  • Enjoy working through issues and have a strong ability to put the needs of the organization above personal goals,
  • Have experience in strategic thinking and patience for long-term goals,
  • Enjoy outreach and developing key relationships for the organization,
  • Have the ability to encourage diversity of thoughts,
  • Work well in a team environment,
  • Have a proficiency to engage and bring into the organization people and communities that are underrepresented, and
  • Want to see Michigan Audubon grow and make a difference for birds and people…

… please consider completing a board candidate application today.
