Rick Barber of North Central Michigan College will present the history, geology and ecology of Isle Royale. In addition he will discuss the moose and wolf studies of recent years as we travel from Rock Harbor to Windigo.
Rick Barber has traveled to Isle Royale numerous times, the first time in 1969 as a Boy Scout and his most recent trip in 2009, each time hiking from one end to the other end of the island. Rick has a degree in biology from Central Michigan University and currently works at North Central Michigan College. Other hikes completed by Rick include portions of the Pacific Coast Trail, Lost Coast Trail in California, Pictured Rocks, Boundary Waters and two recent trips to the Porcupine Mountains.
