Bird Walk at Bernard W. Baker Sanctuary: Learn How To Document Observations With eBird

Experience the wonder of spring bird song and peak bird migration at Bernard W. Baker Sanctuary on Monday, May 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This free bird walk will be co-led by Michigan Audubon Conservation Program Coordinator Linnea Rowse and Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy Stewardship Director Mitch Lettow. Bring your binoculars, a smartphone if you have it, and wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. We will walk on unpaved, mowed grass trails, with a few rolling hills. Walks are suitable for all ages and for any level of birding experience.
Before the bird walk, we recommend loading the eBird app onto a smartphone or tablet device if you can. We will be actively helping everyone to learn how to use eBird to document birds at the sanctuary.
Meet at the Meadows and Marshland Trailhead entrance to Baker, located at 21145 15 Mile Rd, Bellevue, MI 49021. Approximate GPS location: 42.379748, -85.005278. Additional parking on the west side of the road, across from the trailhead parking area.
The bird walk is free, but registration is required and there is a $10 suggested donation for each participant. Donations from this bird walk will be used for the Bernard W. Baker Sanctuary habitat improvement projects that are underway for 2021.
This bird walk will be limited to 20 people or less. Participants are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing while on the tour. If you have a fever, respiratory symptoms, or are not feeling well, please stay home.
