Out of an abundance of caution and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, this event has been canceled.

Join Michigan Audubon for a daylong workshop focused on the critical relationship between birds and native plants, all through the lens of intentional garden design. In this workshop, participants will learn why birds need native plants, which native plants are “powerhouses” for birds, and how to use native plants in both formal and informal landscapes. This workshop will feature an indoor educational session followed by an outdoor walk to view a good example of a bird-friendly landscape.

Participants will take home a resource folder packed with helpful tips and a native shrub (provided by Petoskey Regional Audubon Society) to kickstart a backyard habitat transformation. Lunch is included with registration along with a packet of take-home resources. Please dress appropriately for the outdoors as this event will take place rain or shine.

This event takes place at the Charlevoix Conservation District located at 303 North St., Boyne City, MI 49712.

Registration is $50 for Michigan Audubon members and $55 for non-members.

Immediately following the workshop, Petoskey Regional Audubon Society will hold a native plant sale, in partnership with Birdsfoot Native Nursery. All registered workshop participants will be sent a preorder form for garden kits featuring eight garden designs to choose from, each with 38 plugs! The plant sale will be located at the Charlevoix Conservation District from 3–6:30 p.m.

Michigan Audubon would like to thank Petoskey Regional Audubon Society for providing a potted shrub to each workshop participant, and for helping to secure presenters and the venue for the event.
