Winter Birding in the Eastern U.P.

Are you anxious to see winter finches? Would you like to see dozens of Snowy Owls?

Then join Michigan Audubon on a birding tour of the eastern Upper Peninsula. These caravan adventures will start in Sault Ste. Marie and progress through Chippewa and Mackinac counties. The fees for all U.P. birding tours are $150 for Michigan Audubon members and $175 for non-members. Please note that the trip fee does not include meals or lodging. More trip details will be provided to participants upon registration, and spots are limited.

These trips are rated EASY. Most travel is by car caravan, and foot travel is generally on gravel or paved roadways. Roads may be snow-covered and/or slippery. Duration of foot travel is less than a mile at a time, and participants need to be able to withstand cold temperatures for periods of 30 minutes. 

Two dates are available for this tour: January 20–21 & February 10–11, 2024.

Refund Policy: If you must cancel your participation in a Michigan Audubon event, fees are refundable (minus a $25 processing fee) up until one month prior to the tour. If the cancellation occurs less than a month before but more than two weeks before the tour, a 50% refund will apply. Cancellations occurring less than two weeks prior to the tour will forfeit the entire fee. Membership fees are not refundable.
