Capital City Bird Sanctuary at Hawk Valley Farm Grand Opening
May 9, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Sanctuary Event – Capital City Bird Sanctuary at Hawk Valley Farm Grand Opening
On Saturday, May 9th from 10am to Noon, Michigan Audubon will hold a public dedication ceremony in honor of the Haussman family. Following the dedication ceremony, Michigan Audubon staff will lead a free sanctuary hike and highlight sanctuary projects along the way including the new native bird garden, community vegetable garden, and bird nest box trail. This walk will be on grassy trails with gradual slopes which may be muddy in spots. Participants should wear good walking shoes or boots to stay dry. The sanctuary provides great habitat for birdwatching, so participants are encouraged to bring binoculars to spot birds during the hike.
Please join Michigan Audubon in thanking the Haussman Family for protecting this urban oasis for birds and people to enjoy. Parking is available at Hawk Meadow park located at 6160 Delta River Drive, Lansing with overflow parking available at Delta Hillside Cemetery, just west of the sanctuary. The dedication ceremony will take place at the Capital City Bird Sanctuary entrance and trail head, located across the street from the Hawk Meadow parking lot. We hope to see you there!
