Chapter Event – Audubon Society of Kalamazoo – “The Great Colorado Chicken Trip”

Monday, March 28: 7:30 – 8:30 PM

Yes, chickens! Chickens are birds, too! And especially interesting if they are Lesser Prairie- Chickens or Greater Prairie-Chickens or their relatives: Sharp-tailed and Dusky Grouse, Greater and Gunnison Sage-Grouse, White-tailed Ptarmigan, and more. There is no better place in North America to see native grouse and “chicken-like” birds than the state of Colorado – and no better time to find them than in April. This year we are going just four days early, onMarch 28
Kip Miller is a consummate naturalist, birder, and presenter and has been with the Berrien County Parks at Love Creek Nature Center for 34 years. He will take us on an armchair tour of Colorado from the eastern plains to the intermountain parks and mountain ridges to see Lesser and Greater Prairie- Chickens, Greater and Gunnison Sage-Grouse, Sharp-tailed and Dusky Grouse, White-tailed Ptarmigan, and a few other not-so-chickenish birds.
Besides his work with the Berrien County Parks, Kip enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for birds by hosting, organizing, and guiding birding events and tours – both close to home and in Colorado and other places. You may discover the urge to see more.
Please come join us at the People’s Church, 1758 North 10th Street, Kalamazoo. The program starts at 7:30 PM and is preceded by a social time with light refreshments at 7:00 PM. Guests and the general public are encouraged to attend. Handicap parking and access is at either the front or rear of the building. Please remember to bring your own coffee mug to reduce our dishwashing.
