Grayling Visitors Bureau
The Grayling Visitors Bureau is a proud Friend of the Kirtland’s Warbler Tours Sponsor! Grayling is a charming small town and the seat of Crawford County. More than 70% of the land here is public, with much of it open for recreation. Our area has long been a hub for diverse outdoor activities. We’ve managed to maintain our small-town character, avoiding the pitfalls of becoming just another generic “Anytown, USA.” Whether you’re seeking adventure on one of our many trails or exploring various recreational opportunities, you’ll quickly see that Grayling is at the heart of it all. Birding and wildlife watching are excellent throughout Crawford County because of our heavy forest growth. For more information on birdwatching sites in Crawford, please visit graylingmichigan.org/
The Jackson Hole Birding Festival
Few places put on a show like this one. Cradled beneath the Tetons, Jackson Hole sits at the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem — one of the last nearly intact temperate ecosystems on Earth, where sagebrush steppe, cottonwood river bottoms, montane forest, and alpine tundra stack up within a single sweep of the eye. That collision of habitats makes for extraordinary birding: trumpeter swans on steaming winter water, sandhill cranes bugling over hayfields, great gray owls hunting the forest edge at dusk, harlequin ducks running whitewater, calliope hummingbirds working wildflowers at 9,000 feet.
The festival is a community celebration of that abundance — and a call to protect it. Across three days, we bring together leading ornithologists, conservation biologists, guides, and artists for more than thirty field excursions and expert-led programs, including dawn outings into Grand Teton National Park, trips onto the National Elk Refuge, and other signature excursions offered only during the festival. These aren’t sightseeing trips. They’re one-of-a-kind immersive adventures led by people who have spent careers — and lifetimes — with these birds and this country. We’re proud to partner with Indigenous speakers and birders whose nations have known this landscape and its birds since long before it was mapped, and whose knowledge remains central to understanding and protecting it.
Our mission is to inspire and unite a diverse community of bird enthusiasts and conservation advocates through an immersive celebration of birdlife in the Greater Yellowstone region — deepening awareness of habitat preservation and the value of science while fostering meaningful connections to nature. Through field outings, expert-led talks, and hands-on experience, we empower individuals to become champions for birds and the ecosystems they depend on, ensuring that future generations can continue to experience the beauty and ecological importance of birdlife in our world.
