SUMMARY:Swift Night Out in East Lansing
DESCRIPTION:Join Michigan Audubon for a social hour and swift viewing event on Monday\, August 28 at 7 p.m. We will meet at Crunchy’s for a drink or dinner\, then walk to the nearby People’s Church (200 W Grand River Ave\, East Lansing\, MI) at 8 p.m. to watch the roost chimney. Swifts will start gathering in large numbers around 8:30 p.m. and the spectacle will end by 9 p.m. No birding experience or equipment is necessary but cameras and binoculars are encouraged. Come out for a fun\, casual evening to view these urban birds as they migrate south! \nRSVP to Rachelle Roake at rroake@michiganaudubon.org or (517) 580-7364. This event is weather dependent and will be canceled for rain. Those who RSVP ahead of time will receive an email notification announcing any changes. \nIf you’re not able to join us\, you can still help! Surveying for swifts is fun\, easy\, and suitable for all ages. Potential roost locations are fun to search for – start looking for large\, uncapped chimneys on historical buildings\, old factories\, schools\, churches\, courthouses\, or libraries. Learn more about conducting surveys\, find data sheets\, and enter survey data at our website at https://www.michiganaudubon.org/our-conservation-impact/chsw/
