SUMMARY:Tuesday Treks: Burchfield Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Michigan Audubon for a series of free\, guided bird walks at locations throughout the Greater Lansing area this spring – every Tuesday from April 16 to May 21! Linnea Rowse\, Conservation Program Coordinator\, will lead walks to seek out migratory birds in a variety of habitats. Bring your binoculars (some will be available to borrow) and wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Walks are suitable for all ages and any level of birding experience. This is the perfect time of year to enjoy birds in their beautiful spring breeding plumage! These walks will be canceled in the event of heavy rains or thunderstorms. \nApril 16 | 8 – 10 a.m. | Burchfield Park\, 881 Grovenburg Road\, Holt\, MI 48842. Burchfield Park charges a $3 per vehicle entrance fee for Ingham County residents and a $5 fee for non-residents. Enter the park at the main Burchfield Park entrance\, and meet Linnea at the Burchfield trailhead where the Blue/Red Trails begin. Burchfield Park opens for vehicle entrance at 8 a.m. so this bird walk will depart the trailhead at 8:15 a.m. to allow time for you to enter and park your vehicle. We will still watch and listen for birds at the trailhead! Be prepared to walk on paved trails\, with comfortable walking shoes. Preview the park map here: http://pk.ingham.org/Portals/PK/Maps/BUR%20Color%20Hiking%20Trail%20Map.pdf \n

SUMMARY:CCBS Workday
DESCRIPTION:Do you enjoy spending time outdoors in nature? Are you into native plants\, birds\, butterflies\, and other members of the natural community? Join Michigan Audubon at our sanctuary stewardship workdays\, weekly on Wednesdays from April through October\, at Capital City Bird Sanctuary! We will combine fun facts and learning basic stewardship skills with taking care of our local bird sanctuary. \nThis little-known preserve is a great place to spot breeding Eastern Bluebird\, Rose-breasted Grosbeak\, Warbling Vireo\, and Eastern Kingbird. Help us protect this urban nature preserve by removing invasive garlic mustard and dame’s rocket and encouraging native habitats. Please come prepared for outdoor work; wear long pants\, long sleeves\, close-toed shoes\, and a hat. Bring work gloves\, water\, snacks\, insect repellent\, and sunscreen\, although we will have extras on hand. This event is weather dependent. If an event is canceled\, all those who RSVP will receive an email by 5 p.m. the day before. \nContact Linnea Rowse at lrowse@michiganaudubon.org or 517-580-7364 with any questions or to RSVP. \nWe hope to see you at the sanctuary! \nMeet at the volunteer parking lot at 6001 Delta River Dr.\, Lansing\, MI 48906. \nDirections:\nFrom Waverly: head west at the intersection of Waverly and Delta River Drive. After 1.5 miles\, you will see an open lot with downed trees along the south side of the road. Slow for the hidden\, gated driveway on the south side of the road.\nFrom I-69: head east on W. Saginaw Hwy and after 1 mile\, turn north on Creyts. Continue on Creyts (becomes Webster at Willow Hwy) until it dead-ends at Delta River Drive. Turn east and drive 0.1 mile\, past Hawk Meadow Park\, and slow around the curve to find the hidden\, gated driveway on the south side of the road.
