SUMMARY:Birding in the Eastern UP
DESCRIPTION:Join Michigan Audubon and our skilled birding guides on a birding tour of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. This caravan adventure will start at Sault Ste. Marie then progress through Chippewa and Mackinac Counties.  Space is limited.  The fee for the trip is $75 for Michigan Audubon members and $105 for non-members. The trip fee does not include meals or lodging. \nThis trip is rated EASY – most travel is by car caravan. Foot travel on gravel or paved roadways; the biggest challenge would be that the roads may be snow covered or slippery. Duration of foot travel of less than a mile at a time. Participants need to be able to withstand cold temperatures for periods of 30 minutes. \nRegistration opens Friday November 11 at noon. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Audubon Society of Kalamazoo Presents: Moths\, Our Nocturnal Pollinators
DESCRIPTION:Colorful photos document the diversity of moths found in rural Kalamazoo County. Both moths and/or their caterpillars are shown along with the native plants that host them. Also discussed is the significance of insects both to plant pollination and as food source for birds. \nThe presenter\, Ilse Gebhard\, is an Amateur Naturalist with special interest in native plants\, insects\, and birds and their relationships in the natural world. Longtime board member of the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo\, she is a Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist and the chair of the Kalamazoo Area Wild Ones Monarch Committee. \nDate and Location: January 23\, 2017 at the People’s Church\, 1758 North 10th Street\, Kalamazoo.The program starts at 7:30 PM and is preceded by a social time with light refreshments at 7:00 PM. Guests and the general public are encouraged to attend. Handicap parking and access is at either the front or rear entrance of the building.
