SUMMARY:Grand Rapids Audubon Club
DESCRIPTION:Chapter Event – Grand Rapids Audubon Club\nKent County Winter Exploration and Birding \nLeader: Tom Leggett \nTom has come up with a new series of trips that meet his challenging work schedule. All these trips will meet at Johnson Park. Emphasis will be on nearby areas including Millennium Park. By late April\, migration should be in full swing with some warblers and shorebirds moving through the area. Tom will be looking for them. Some trips may visit the Paul Henry trail and its woods and fields\, but hot birds may dictate the route. Essentials: Meet at the south parking lot in Johnson Park just off Butterworth Drive and north of 28th Street at 1:30 PM. Do not take the long drive into Johnson Park just north of 28th. This is planned as an afternoon trip. You may want to bring a snack and a drink to keep you going. Safety Hazards: Watch out for poison ivy and early biting insects. Driving in a caravan can be hazardous. Get directions from the leader for travel to the next stop. Please exercise caution on the roads at all times\, and watch the car ahead of you when driving in a caravan. Please have a passenger handle all radio or phone communications while in a car.

SUMMARY:California: Desert\, Mountains and Coast Birding Tour
DESCRIPTION:Birding Tour – California\nJoin Bill Sweetman of Bsweet Tours on a birding/natural history tour to one of the most diverse and fascinating states in the entire USA – California. We will visit a wide variety of beautiful habitats on this California Birding Tour as we search for birds and experience California’s diverse flora and fauna. This tour will take us into the Mohave Desert\, the southern most passes of the Sierra Nevada and to the beautiful central Pacific coast where we will visit some wonderfully scenic birding sites. While along the coast we will take a boat from Ventura to Santa Cruz Island National Park (SCI) providing opportunity to find the endemic Island Scrub Jay and possibly sea birds en route. This tour will explore most of the major bird groups\, from sea birds\, ducks and shorebirds\, to hummingbirds and passerines. Our goal is to see all of the California endemic species.\nAn additional note: if winter has provided significant rain\, the wild flower show in many locations is itself worth the trip. \nCost\n• Ground transportation from the point of origin at LAX\, all lodging\, breakfasts beginning on 29 April through 5 May\, picnic lunches\, all admissions and boat trip to Santa Cruz Island National Park.\n• Cost is $1250 per person double occupancy. A deposit of $350 will reserve a spot on the tour.\n• Note: Bill always attempts to keep trip costs as reasonable as possible to appeal to all pocketbooks. Unfortunately\, everything in California is pricey.\n• Lodging will be in Best Westerns and Choice Hotel properties
