From Alma\, participants will travel around the state\, visiting different habitats and important bird areas to enhance and support their learning throughout the week. We’ll discuss bird conservation topics and bird identification tips and techniques\, and listen to a variety of guest speakers on topics related to birds. \nThe 2022 camp experience will cost $500 per camper. This includes lodging\, food\, transportation during camp\, camp materials\, and camper swag. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available and space is limited. Camper applications are accepted until May 1 or until spaces are filled.  \nOut of a concern for safety\, we will follow appropriate\, current public health protocols. SUMMARY:2021 Michigan Young Birders Camp
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited for the revamped 2021 Michigan Young Birders Camp! This virtual experience for 13- to 18-year-olds meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the last three weeks of July with independent learning opportunities in between. Our goal is to minimize our time in front of a computer while maximizing the time we spend together to provide relevant and engaging information. \nCamp sessions are held for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon\, with optional evening sessions and occasional time for group projects. Each day focuses on a different theme related to birds and features a variety of guest speakers. Independent activities are assigned to campers to help continue our work when we aren’t together.  \nThis virtual camp experience is open to 20 enthusiastic campers\, and tuition is $175 per participant. Campers will be mailed a packet of resources\, reference materials\, and other goodies before the beginning of camp. Registration is open through June 15\, 2021\, or until filled.  \nCamp will meet on July 13\, 14\, 20\, 21\, 27\, and 28. We hope to have campers join us for all days and sessions\, but we will make accommodations for absences.  \nPlease contact Lindsay Cain at lcain@michiganaudubon.org if you have any questions or if you’re having difficulty registering.
