SUMMARY:Michigan Environmental Council northern Michigan regional meeting
DESCRIPTION:Meeting – Michigan Environmental Council\nJune 5\nA highlight of this year’s meeting will be a panel discussion on public lands issues that are currently a source of much debate in Lansing. Recently introduced bills would reduce the DNR’s public land footprint in northern Michigan and use Natural Resources Trust Fund dollars for mining and forestry infrastructure\, among other proposed changes. The lasted proposals will be sorted through with:\n\n\nJulie Clark\, TART Trails\nBrad Garmon\, Michigan Environmental Council\nMatt McDonough\, Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy\nDNR staff (invited)\n\nAs always\, the meeting will include a Capitol update from MEC’s James Clift with the latest on energy\, transportation and other key issues. SUMMARY:Saginaw Valley Audubon Society Event
DESCRIPTION:Chapter Event – Minden Bog with Saginaw Valley Audubon Society\nRandy Kursinsky focuses on the Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park and the Minden Bog\, located 60 miles east of Bay City in the Thumb. Tetroglyph Park contains the only know Native American rock carvings in Michigan as well as a very nice loop trail along a forested creek. The Minden Bog is a unique raised bog with unique plant communities\, normally found further north. Both areas are top birding spots–totally different from the typical farming landscapes that surrounds them. \nTime: \n7:00 p.m. \nLocation:\nGreen Point Environmental Learning Center\, 3010 Maple Street\, Saginaw\, MI. \nMeetings are open to the pubic.
