SUMMARY:Great Backyard Bird Count 2022
DESCRIPTION:The 25th Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) takes place February 18–21\, 2022. This fun\, free\, family-friendly activity is a great way to engage both beginner and experienced birders in citizen science. \nParticipating in the count is as simple as counting birds for as few as 15 minutes on one or more days of the count\, then reporting the results online at BirdCount.org. All of the observations submitted to the GBBC are automatically entered into eBird. The data are available to explore using a number of different tools on eBird.org and BirdCount.org. Regular eBird users can participate by entering checklists into eBird as usual during the count. \nLast year\, an estimated 300\,000+ GBBC participants in 190 countries counted more than 6\,000 species of birds on nearly 400\,000 checklists\, providing an incredible snapshot of winter bird populations and distribution in North America and beyond. Learn more about this fantastic citizen science event at gbbc.birdcount.org/. \nRead our blog for a quick overview of how to take part in the GBBC.
