SUMMARY:COMMUNITY: Audubon Society of Kalamazoo - Kal Haven Trail Walks
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays in April & May – 9:00 AM \nKal Haven Trail\, Kalamazoo \nContinuing the years’ long tradition of Tuesday morning trail walks\, our weekly Kal-Haven Trail walks will be on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM in April and May\, starting April 7. We will meet and start at the trailhead on North 10th Street between G and H Avenues. A few of us walk 2.5 miles to the usually very birdy marsh at 8th Street and then back for a total of 5 miles\, but anyone can cut that short and turn around at any time. There will not be a “leader\,” although someone will be keeping a species list. \nFeel free to arrange your own spotting or shuttling of cars. The Kal-Haven Trail walks are handicap accessible. \nIf you would like to be in an email group to be notified of the latest status of the walks or to discuss weather conditions\, please send an email to Donna Keller at askpresident@kalamazooaudubon.org. \n\nThis event was submitted to our community calendar page by an outside organizer and is not a Michigan Audubon event. If you have questions\, please reach out to the event organizers or the contact information provided in the event description.

SUMMARY:COMMUNITY: WBNA- Bikes & Shorebirds at Pointe Mouillee
DESCRIPTION:Bikes and Shorebirds at Pointe Mouillee State Game Area\n\nSaturday\, August 15 @ 8:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\n\nPointe Mouillee\, on Lake Erie near the mouth of the Huron River\, is one of the premier destinations in the Midwest for viewing shorebirds and waders. Access for cars is limited—but not for bikes! Join Andy Dettling for a pedal around the Pointe looking for shorebirds\, waders\, and other waterfowl. \nThe biking will be at a slow pace on gravel and dirt roads with frequent stops. Bikes with gravel tires or larger are recommended\, though a road bike may be suitable for more experienced/careful riders. \nBring insect repellent\, wear a hat/helmet\, and dress for warm weather—there is no shade or shelter at Pointe Mouillee. Bring all of the food and fluids you think you will need to sustain you for approximately four hours of birding. \nWe will access Pte. Mouillee via the parking lot off of Turnpike Rd. For those who have attended past WBNA trips to Pte. Mouillee\, please note that this is not the vehicle access gate on Sigler Rd. \nLooking for a ride with a bike rack? Have a bike rack and are willing to drive others? Please fill out this survey and we will do our best to pair willing drivers with those looking for a ride. (We cannot guarantee rides for everyone who requests one\, and carpools will be arranged on a first-come first-served basis.) \nFill Out the Carpool Survey \nLeader: Andy Dettling \nTo receive the checklist: tinyurl.com/ebirdlist \n\nThis event was submitted to our community calendar page by an outside organizer and is not a Michigan Audubon event.
