SUMMARY:COMMUNITY: The Great Petoskey Passenger Pigeon Nesting of 1878
DESCRIPTION:The community of Petoskey\, Michigan will remember the now extinct Passenger pigeon with “The Great Petoskey Passenger Pigeon Nesting of 1878” free public events during the week of June 15\, 2026. The vision is: to recall by word\, experience\, and art the tragic story of the wild Passenger pigeon in Petoskey\, thereby fostering a greater love for our land\, water\, and wildlife. \nActivities include art and history talks\, nature and bird walks and will close with the unveiling of a cast bronze sculpture dedicated to “The Great Petoskey Passenger Pigeon Nesting of 1878.” Artist Todd McGrain is the sculptor and through his “Lost Bird Project\,” he has created permanent public memorials to birds driven to extinction\, combining visual arts and storytelling to raise awareness of human impact on the natural world. He will be present throughout the week at events. \n\nThis event was submitted to our community calendar page by an outside organizer and is not a Michigan Audubon event. If you have questions\, please reach out to the event organizers or the contact information provided in the event description.

SUMMARY:COMMUNITY: Audubon Society of Kalamazoo - Kal Haven Trail Walks
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays in April & May – 9:00 AM \nKal Haven Trail\, Kalamazoo \nContinuing the years’ long tradition of Tuesday morning trail walks\, our weekly Kal-Haven Trail walks will be on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM in April and May\, starting April 7. The Kal-Haven Trail walks are handicap accessible. \nIf you would like to be in an email group to be notified of the latest status of the walks or to discuss weather conditions\, please send an email to Donna Keller at askpresident@kalamazooaudubon.org. \n\nThis event was submitted to our community calendar page by an outside organizer and is not a Michigan Audubon event.
