While almost all Lake Bluff weddings have been outside on the grounds, small indoor ceremonies of up to 40 people can be accommodated year round in the large living room of the main house.

Where are outdoor ceremonies conducted?

Usual ‘wedding spot’ is between two large cottonwood trees overlooking Lake Michigan., but the bride and groom are free to choose any spot on the grounds they like.

How big can my wedding be?

The limit is about 250 people, based on our ability to accommodate vehicles.

Can I also have my reception at Lake Bluff?

Yes, but smoking and alcohol are not permitted and there’s no cooking facility inside the house.

What about chairs, tables, tarps, tents?

Full service rental facilities in the area have worked with Lake Bluff in past and can probably supply all or most of your needs.

Where can the bridal party prepare?

The bride and her party are welcome to use the second floor of the main house. The men normally congregate in the pool house.

What does the basic fee include?

Use of main house, pool house/ deck and grounds for 4 hours including wedding day set-up and clean up. There is an additional hourly charge beyond that. No charge for day before rehearsal or set-up work.

Where do guests park?

On the south lawn accessed by gate directly from Lake Shore Rd. The bridal party can park at the main house.

Is Lake Bluff handicap accessible?

Buildings are not. Disabled persons can drive up close to lawn seating.

Can we release balloons?

Tossing bird seed is encouraged! Balloon releases or rice throwing are not permitted.
