One of the premier hawkwatching sites in North America, Lake Erie Metropark is host to migrating waterfowl in the spring and fall, and birds of prey in the fall. Hawk Fest, an annual birding festival celebrating the migration of birds of prey, is held on the third weekend of September. Every fall thousands of raptors fly over the park on their way south. Hawk Fest is coordinated by the Marshland Museum and Nature Center, located within Lake Erie Metropark, and is one of the best festivals to get children interested in birding.
