CraneFest attendees enjoy one of the many educational programs and activities that the event has to offer.

CraneFest is a coordinated effort of the Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek and Michigan Audubon. The festival site is the Kiwanis Youth Conservation Area, overlooking Michigan Audubon's Bernard W. Baker Sanctuary.

The major attraction of the festival is the spectacle of thousands of Sandhill Cranes returning to Baker Sanctuary. The “fly-in” typically begins around 4 PM, with the largest numbers of birds arriving between 5 PM and dusk.

Admission is free and parking is $3.

CraneFest kicks-off on Friday, October 7 with a social gathering featuring Michigan's star birdwatcher, Caleb Putnam. Caleb will present Chasing Rare Birds in Michigan - Stories and More!. One attendee will walk away with a brand-new pair of 10x42 binoculars, courtesy of Eagle Optics. Drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and an auction fundraiser will make for a fun, festive evening.
