The Michigan Environmental Council is a coalition of more than 70 organizations created in 1980 to lead Michigan's environmental movement in achieving positive change through the political process.
For over thirty years, EMEAC has been working in the legislature, in the courts, in township halls and in schools. They played a role in the enactment of most of Michigan's environmental laws and have used those laws in court to protect air and water quality, wetlands, natural areas, farmlands and wildlife.
The Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council (Mid-MEAC)is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to improving the quality of life by raising environmental consciousness and activism. Mid-MEAC provides individuals and communities concrete and practical ways to help the environment. Programs focus on River Protection, Trails & Greenways/Green Transportation, and Sustainable Business.
The Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council (NMEAC) is the Grand Traverse region's oldest and best-known grassroots environmental advocacy organization. Meetings are the 2nd. Tuesday each month. The public is invited.
