Conference Highlights
Keynote Speaker
Saturday, 8:45 to 9:45 am
Laura Erickson
Laura is the author of 101 Ways to Help Birds, Sharing the Wonder of Birds with Kids and For the Birds: An Uncommon Guide. She is best known for her radio show “For the Birds” which she has produced since 1986 and airs in her home state of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Other credits include writing articles for Birder’s World, Audubon, and Birding. Awards include the Bronze Passenger Pigeon given by the Wisconsin Society of Ornithology, the National Outdoor Book Award in 1997 for Sharing the Wonder of Birds with Kids and second place in the American Ornithologists’ Union Bird-Calling Contest in the repertoire category for owl calls.
Laura is delighted to be speaking at our conference and is looking forward to returning to the campus of Michigan State University where she saw the very first bird on her life list, the Black-capped Chickadee.
Laura will be presenting the keynote address on "How Helping Birds Helps You" on Saturday morning and then sharing with us ways to get children excited about birds later that evening.

Auction Items Needed
Have a gently used pair of binoculars or a stack of Peterson field guides that you no longer use? If yes, then please consider donating these and similar items to the auction. We are looking for new and gently used items for our silent and live auctions to be held at the Annual Conference. Suggested items include artwork, photographs, bird feeders and houses, gardening items, educational materials, optics, gift items, jewelry, ceramics, regional items such as maple syrup, candles, honey etc, MAS Memorabilia, rare books, gift certificates etc.
Auction items can be dropped off or mailed to the Michigan Audubon Office (6011 West St. Joseph Hwy, Suite 403, Lansing, MI 48917) before the conference or may be dropped off at the registration table on Friday evening or Saturday morning. Early drop off of these items will assure that we have enough time to prepare them for the auction festivities.
For more information
If you have questions about donations or interested in helping secure items contact Michigan Audubon.

Auction and Social Hour
Saturday, 5:30 to 7:30 pm
This year we are mixing things up and offering an evening of fellowship as we raise money to support Michigan Audubon and its educational programs. There will be plenty of room for eating (gourment pizza), drinking (a cash bar) and being merry (that means enjoying yourself and spending lots of cash on auction items). So get ready for some fun as we "funraise” for Michigan Audubon.
