Michigan Audubon, the state's first centennial conservation organization, was founded prior to the existence of the National Audubon Society. Today, the two organizations work cooperatively on projects, but maintain separate mailing lists and do not engage in revenue-sharing of any kind. One chapter of the National Audubon Society exists in Michigan--the Detroit Audubon Society.
